Playing bingo can help keep your brain in shape
and be more larger, more agile can be; or at least
that is what they claim researchers in a University
of Southampton, England.
Tests carried out in this University brought out
bingo players are faster and make fewer mistakes in
a series of tests that measure the speed of the
mind, memory and the ability to capture the
information in our environment.
Players must be able to dial numbers quickly and
need to have good coordination, and manual skills
that deteriorate with age. Unlike other games such
as chess, basket or backgammon, requiring skills
that are stored in the brain and remember when they
need to bingo where you be able to quickly identify
the numbers in a limited time.
Julie Winstone, the centre of Visual cognition of
the Department of psychology of the University of
Southampton, analyzed over a period of one year the
mental ability to bingo players. He analyzed the
response of 112 people from 18 to 40 years and more
older people, 60-82. Half of the members of each of
these two groups were players of bingo, the other
half not.
Winstone presented his findings at the annual
Conference of the Group of psychologists Winchester
with special interest in older people. The English
psychologist said suspected activities such as bingo
involving great mental activity could postpone loss
as the speed and accuracy cognitive abilities in
pattern recognition.
His studies put to test skills that are used when
playing bingo. Bingo players participated in the
study youth and elders and people who didn't
play bingo. Bingo players were faster
and more accurate than those not playing bingo.
However, in certain tests seniors came better
voiceless than younger people.
Winstone explained the results of the study are
still the same trend that growing research in this
area suggests that participate regularly in
activities that require a high level of mental
activity helps maintain cognitive functions in the
future. However, revealed that the objective of this
study was the identify mental abilities that come
into play in play bingo in order to determine
exactly how to play bingo help to keep our brains
fit.
The scientist said he hoped that regular bingo
players come out better assessed skills associated
with the bingo. The delegation highlighted that
older players and young were able to achieve the
same level of performance. Also said that younger
players were faster and more successful adults.
Winstone concluded that bingo is an activity that
worth the effort involved, just like others such as
the basket or the puzzles, that when you perform a
variety of processes are involved. Also said that it
is best not to focus on a single activity if not
vary and bingo should not be ruled out as a
beneficial activity.
